It's becoming apparent that Dallin is very musical. I guess I should have noticed it before now, since months ago he loved playing the piano with me and the organ with grandma. And it should have been a big hint when his favorite part of his birthday was not eating cake, but when we sang him "Happy Birthday." :) But it's just been over the last few months as I've watched him do several different things, that I'm noticing how much he loves music.
Dallin notices music being played everywhere we go (restaurants, fireworks shows, museums, stores in the mall, etc) and bops to the beat. He loves the Hymns in church and always wants to hold the hymn book. Pretty funny when he bops, bounces, and shakes his head to the hymns played on the organ during sacrament meeting. :)
At home he points to the laptop or I-touch and starts bouncing. He knows that's where music comes from. When we say "Do you want to dance/listen to music?" he says "aahyeah" with a head nod. So cute he knows what he wants and is finding ways to communicate that to us.

| "Please Mom...can you start the music on the computer?" |
 |
| "Thank you! Itunes is what I wanted!" |
 |
| "I'm totally happy now." |
 |
| Mom starts thinking "let's do something other than listen to music all day." |
 |
| Dallin says "It's okay mom, Dad's home from work and he can play the music for me." |
 |
| "This is what I'm talking about!" |
 |
| "I love to jump!" |
He enjoys listening to any and all music (country, oldies, kids songs, etc). The best kid cds I've found are "Songs for Wiggleworms" and "Wiggleworms Love You". He sometimes likes to listen to the music through headphones and knows to hold them to his ear.
Several weeks ago, I got a book from the library called "The More We Get Together." Since that's a song too, I sang the words to him once. After that, there's been no going back. If I just read him the book, he's disappointed. :) It's his favorite book from the huge stack of library books we have! I had it in a bag to return today (I'm out of renewals on it) and he searched through the bag and got it back out. If that's not a hint I don't know what is!
He has always enjoyed when Justin and I sing together (usually for Family Home Evening) so he LOVES when mom and dad both sing the book to him. If we are both around and one of us doesn't sing, he stares us down until we do!

His favorite song to dance to is "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction (Thanks Aunt Janelle for sharing it!)
Click here to watch a video of when Janelle shared it with him. You can tell he's trying to figure out how his body can bounce and move. He loves to shake his head/head bang (I'm not sure that's a good thing...).
Here's a second video of him jumping to the same song. It looks like Justin is kind of bouncing him, but it's all on his own! I love how happy and excited he is when he gets to dance. And
here's one last video of the same song
. My favorite is at 10 seconds when he lifts his foot in the air. Working on some fancy footwork!
And last, here's some photos that were taken late in the evening when he starts to get loopy and crazy. He grabbed the I-touch, put it by his ear to hear the songs better, and danced back and forth all across the living room floor. We sure are enjoying our "Musical Baby"!
That is one cute kid! I think this is such a fun age.
